On one night only, tonight, “Shut Up and Play the Hits” showed up in theaters across the country.  Not all theaters, mind you; not ALL across the country either, but I guess in select cities.  Luckily, Seattle was one of those cities.  And Cinerama was one of those theaters.

So, it’s not like I could NOT go.  I mean, I think it’s safe to say that LCD Soundsystem is easily my favorite rock band of the last decade.  Granted, part of that is due to the fact that I’m just not up on what’s good anymore.  I’ve been out of college for the extreme bulk of the past ten years, and for whatever reason, that means I have lost touch.  Of course, it’s not like there have been all that many great bands to come out in the last decade either.  Let’s face it, the competition wasn’t all that high.

I have next-to-nothing going on this weekend.  That isn’t usually the case.  If you look at my “Concerts & Festivals” page at the top of this site, you’ll see that I’ve been to many-a-Sasquatch over the past decade (which always takes place this weekend, Memorial Day weekend).  To be accurate, I’ve been to all or parts of 4 Sasquatches.  And the ones I’ve missed have pained me greatly, because they usually have a tits lineup.

On September 21st, I saw the Flaming Lips perform at the Puyallup Fair. This was the fifth time I’ve seen them live. At one point, Wayne Coyne said in between songs, “This is the last perfect night of summer.” It wasn’t true, but he was only off by one day.

I don’t know if I have anything else to say besides that, but I felt for my own sake that I needed to commemorate #5. To refresh my own memory, #1 was at the Gorge (hail storm), #2 was at the Gorge (sitting on the hill), #3 was at Marymoor Park (with Jake), and #4 was at the Paramount (alone).

I really should write more, but I’ve got work in the morning. In the cold, rainy-ass morning. Summer, we hardly knew ye.
